Dharamshala is famed as the holy residence of the Dalai Lama and houses the Tibetan monk in exile.  It is the lower division of the city, the upper division is popularly known as Mcleodganj.

Situated on the upper hilly stretch of land of Kangra Valley, is the best place to learn Buddhism and Tibetan culture. 

Dharamshala is the home to Dalai Lama, the Buddhist leader who runs his government in exile from Dharamshala. Dalai Lama came to India  in 1959 along  with his followers and settled, rather beautified the town of Dharamshala, transforming it into the little Lhasa. Dharamshala, has been a centre of meditation and peace, with thousands of people from around the world coming here to seek Nirvana.
